Amber grew up in the family jewelry business, spending afternoons in the back room at David Porter Fine Jewelry where her mother worked. “I loved everything about being there- the sounds of the steamer in the shop, the library behind David’s desk with pictures of colorful, exotic gems from around the world, the faint smell of Windex from the cases and of course pressing my nose up to the glass to see all the sparkles. It felt like being on a pirate ship full of treasure.”
The love of all things sparkly grew as Amber’s mother, Lee Ann Miller, opened her own jewelry store, taking the former name of David Porter Jewelry, Garden of Gems. Mom, started training her daughter with the simplest tasks to eventually become a sales associate and designer.
When Lee Ann retired in 2007, Amber realized her own dream and opened the Garden of Gems. in a new location. What could be better than living one's own dream?
